Human beings are endowed with emotions. Basic emotions are happiness, anger, sadness, jealousy, anticipation, fear, surprise. Often it happens we get overwhelmed by our emotion and then the emotion starts controlling us.
It is important to control your emotion and not let emotions to control us. It is important to know your emotions. Know what kinds of circumstances cause which emotions, and be able to tell the disparity between anger and fear.
1. Sometimes several emotions can bubble up at the same time, and the one experiencing it going might not be able to distinguish the two. Identify those emotions as they don’t just appear inexplicably out of nowhere.
Distinguishing your emotions on a conscious level will help you to control them better. It’s also good to be aware of an emotion from the moment it appears, as disparate to letting it build up and deepen. The last thing you need to do is disregard or suppress your feelings because when you do that, they tend to get worse and explode later.
2. Think on your alternative. As soon as you know what emotion you are trading with think of at least two diverse ways you can retort. Your emotions rule you when you presume there’s only one way to respond, but you always have an option.
The best thing is to relax. Though it is not easy to do, but there are some habits to relax that do not need lots of exercise, knowledge or will power. When we are angry or upset we grit our jaws and tense up.
3. Taking a deep breath is an easy and helpful way to cram down the emotional distress. It won’t dismiss the anger but it can dial it down, just sufficient to keep you from saying, or doing, something we’d lament later.
It is important that you change your perspective towards few things and eliminate negative thoughts. Change the way you see the world and learn to be optimistic towards things which will not only help you control your emotion but will also give an optimistic approach to your life.
